As summer comes round yet again, we will all be trying to perfect that bikini body – whether it’s through dieting or exercise. So if you are at uni and struggling, don’t worry…it is a LOT harder here!
Healthy food is nowhere near as cheap as junk food that we so often crave, convincing ourselves that eating bad food will be better for our bank balance. Going out, with the inevitable alcohol adds huge amounts of calories without us even noticing – not to mention the stop off at the chicken shop on the way home! Being at uni all day adds temptations such as a burger from Dylan’s or a cheeky sandwich from the SU shop.
It’s okay, it can be done.
All you need is will power, motivation and good friends who will keep you on track.
These elements can all be worked on and improved, and we’re here to show you how.
We all have it for the first day but it’s hard to keep it up when things get in our way. The solution to this, is just plan ahead. Buy salads for lunch, if you’re going to be at uni all day, it’s easy to put in your bag and will keep you going – there’s not even any preparation that morning! These can be expensive, but make the most of ‘two for..’ deals, you’ll be surprised at what you can find.
Again, starts off well but this can be helped by some little things around the house. Start off by putting a picture of how you’d like to look on your wall somewhere. I’m sure we can all find a celeb that we love the look of. Secondly, print out one picture of you that you absolutely hate, one where you look your worst and never want to see again. When you’ve found that one picture, stick it on your fridge. Every time you go to binge, you’ll see that picture and it’ll put you off instantly!
This aspect is the hardest, you’re not expected to ditch your friends if they fit into the clothes you’ve always wanted to wear. Take your existing friends, and get them involved. Make sure they pester you, ask if you should be eating that, ask why you’re not in the gym today. Get them to come to the gym with you. They can help with the motivation. You just need to show them you really want to do it.
